Andhra Pradesh MLC Duvvada Srinivas and his companion Madhuri were detained late Thursday night after the Rajendranagar special operations team (SOT) police conducted a raid on a birthday party at The Pendent farmhouse in Moinabad.
According to police sources, the party involved consumption of alcohol without requisite permissions.
The SOT team reportedly acted on credible information that liquor was being consumed and a party was being held in violation of excise norms.
During the raid, police seized large quantities of alcohol bottles and other suspected contraband items.
The celebration was organised to mark the birthday of Madhuri, who has been in a live-in relationship with Srinivas since 2024.
Srinivas, a member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council and a leader of the YSR Congress Party, had allegedly moved out of his family last year to live with her.
Police stated that the farmhouse party hosted by Srinivas and attended by several YSRCP leaders was being conducted without authorization.
The joint operation by Rajendranagar police and the SOT unit resulted in the party being halted and materials being seized as evidence.
Both Srinivas and Madhuri were taken into custody for questioning. Further investigation is under way to ascertain whether any additional violations occurred during the event.
