The most active and aggressive political clashes on Telugu social media usually involve TDP, Jana Sena and YSRCP supporters.
For a long time, TDP and Jana Sena groups functioned in unity, especially to counter YSRCP narratives, as both parties are part of a political coalition.
However, the current Akhanda 2 episode has exposed an unexpected rift between the two allied camps' supporters.
While many Jana Sena supporters respect and support N Chandrababu Naidu due to the coalition, that does not automatically mean they must unconditionally praise Akhanda 2, a Balakrishna film.
Some Jana Sena handles merely expressed appreciation for the film’s Hindutva angle while offering mild criticism of other aspects. This balanced opinion triggered disproportionate backlash from hardcore TDP social media loyalists.
They expect out and out 100% roaring support for the film, with 5/5 kind of ratings from Janasena supporters.
Instead of accepting differing views, certain TDP fanatics resorted to abusive language, personal attacks and even threats of organized trolling.
More concerning is the warning issued to Jana Sena supporters that Chiranjeevi’s upcoming film “Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu” would be deliberately targeted with trolls.
This suggests that a section of TDP supporters on social media has chosen to weaponize cinema fandom as a tool of political intimidation.
Such immature behavior harms the camaraderie between allied parties and creates unnecessary friction at the grassroots digital level. Cinema appreciation cannot be enforced through political loyalty.
Unfortunately, loud, impulsive and low-thinking individuals dominate online spaces, turning minor disagreements into ugly fan wars. If unchecked, this mindset risks damaging both political unity and cultural discourse.
