Kavitha breaks down in council, as she attacks BRS

The Telangana state legislative council on Monday witnessed an emotionally charged scene with Telangana Jagruthi president and MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha burst into tears while delivering her speech, seeking council chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy to accept her resignation.

She broke down in the House while narrating the humiliation she had faced in the last one decade within the Bharat Rashtra Samithi founded by her own father K Chandrasekhar Rao, forcing her to make an exit from the party.

Speaking in the House, Kavitha said she had entered politics inspired by her father and Telangana ideologue Professor K Jayashankar during the statehood movement.

However, she alleged that from the very first day after the formation of Telangana, restrictions and constraints were imposed on her. Readmore!

“Whenever I questioned mistakes within the party, I was targeted and subjected to vendetta. I faced several curbs and humiliations within the BRS,” Kavitha told the House, her voice breaking during the speech.

She thanked the BRS leadership and the people’s representatives of Nizamabad for having given her the MLC position, but said her experience thereafter had been deeply painful.

Kavitha said it was due to sustained harassment and internal suppression that she resigned from her MLC post last year.

“I was deliberately sidelined and pushed out. I request the Council Chairman to immediately accept my resignation,” she said.

She even described the party organisation a big joke and said there were no committees in the party at all.

She even declared that KCR’s national ambitions a big mistake and said she had strongly opposed renaming the Telangana Rashtra Samithi into BRS.

Political observers say Kavitha’s speech reinforces speculation of a widening rift between her and the BRS leadership.

Analysts also point to her alleged disappointment over the lack of strong party support during her incarceration in the Delhi liquor policy case, suggesting that the grievances aired in the House may have deeper political implications.

Kavitha’s direct criticism of the party leadership, and by extension KCR himself, is being seen as a potential turning point in Telangana politics, with the possibility of significant realignments in the days ahead.
