A person has been arrested for allegedly vandalising US Vice President JD Vance’s home in Cincinnati, Ohio, in what officials have described as a serious security incident.
Several windows of the residence were smashed, though authorities say the suspect did not manage to enter the house. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
JD Vance and his family were not present at the time, and no injuries were reported. The incident occurred in the East Walnut Hills area on William Howard Taft Drive.
Police were alerted around 12:15 a.m. after a US Secret Service officer noticed a person running near the residence and informed local authorities.
Officials have not yet revealed the suspect’s identity or the motive behind the act. They also confirmed that the damage was limited to vandalism.
The US Secret Service, which is responsible for the vice president’s security, has not issued a formal statement so far.
