Akhanda 2 Box Office (Closing): Big Budget, Big Flop

Akhanda 2, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead role, has ended its theatrical run on a disappointing note.

Despite strong expectations riding on the sequel factor, the film failed to live up to the hype and closed with a worldwide gross of under ₹130 crore, falling well short of success benchmarks.

The Telugu fantasy action thriller released in theatres on December 12, 2025, and opened to mixed-to-negative reviews from critics.

Word of mouth among audiences was also below average, which resulted in a sharp drop in collections soon after the initial opening. Readmore!

The film struggled both in domestic and overseas markets, ultimately delivering underwhelming box-office numbers.

In India, Akhanda 2 began its run on a decent note, registering the second-biggest opening of Balakrishna’s career. However, poor audience reception led to heavy drops in the following days.

As per final estimates, the film collected around ₹94.5 crore net in India, translating to ₹111.51 crore gross. Its run was further affected by reduced screenings following the release of The Raja Saab.

Overseas, the film performed weakly, earning only ₹12.35 crore gross. With this, the worldwide closing collection stands at approximately ₹123.86 crore gross.

Reportedly made on a massive budget of ₹200 crore, Akhanda 2 needed to collect around ₹200 crore net in India alone to be considered safe.

However, with net collections of just ₹94.5 crore, the film managed to recover only 47.25% of its budget, resulting in a deficit of nearly 52.75%.

While the film achieved a few opening-day milestones for Balakrishna, the overall theatrical outcome places Akhanda 2 firmly among the major box-office disappointments of recent times.
