The North America box office has seen two major records being broken with recent Telugu releases, showing the strong overseas pull of Telugu cinema.
Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu has crossed the $3 million mark in North America. This is the biggest overseas grosser in the careers of Chiranjeevi and director Anil Ravipudi.
It is also the highest North America collection ever for a senior hero. With positive word of mouth, the film is expected to have a steady and healthy run in its second week as well.
At the same time, Anaganaga Oka Raju is set to cross the $1.5 million mark in North America today. This marks a big milestone for Naveen Polishetty, giving him a hat-trick of $1 million-plus films overseas and back-to-back $1.5 million grossers. Among actors of his generation, only Nani has achieved a similar feat.
With these results, Naveen Polishetty has clearly strengthened his overseas market, while Telugu cinema continues to register strong numbers in North America.
