A year after quitting politics, Sai Reddy signals re-entry!

It is exactly a year ago, on January 24, 2025 to be precise, senior leader V Vijay Sai Reddy resigned from his Rajya Sabha membership and later, the YSR Congress party of which he was general secretary.

Though he announced that he would keep away from politics and focus on agriculture, Sai Reddy has made attempts to get into the Bharatiya Janata Party during this period, but could not get any green signal from the saffron party.

Yet, he has been posting political statements on social media platform, besides making pro-Hindutva statements, indicating that he is inclining towards the saffron brigade.

And on Thursday, Sai Reddy openly declared to the media that he would stage a comeback into the politics shortly. He dismissed reports that he had taken political retirement. Readmore!

Speaking to reporters after coming out of the Enforcement Directorate office in Hyderabad where he was questioned in connection with the alleged liquor scam, Sai Reddy opened up on his political future.

“I have not withdrawn from public life. I am still active on political developments. I shall speak about a possible political re-entry after June 25. Until then, I will not disclose my future plans,” he said.

Making pointed remarks about internal dynamics within the YSR Congress party, Sai Reddy said that there is no “number two” position in regional parties.

He claimed that party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy functions as everything from number one to number hundred.

He alleged that he was sidelined and humiliated within the party and that this treatment eventually forced him to distance himself from the YSRCP.

“I did not say a single word against Jagan. In fact, he only made statements against me,” he pointed out.

Responding to allegations that he had amassed hundreds of crores of rupees, the former MP said he was prepared to submit complete details of his assets to investigating agencies.

He also rejected claims linking him to the business activities of Aurobindo companies, stating that those enterprises did not belong to him and challenging authorities to investigate further if they had any doubts.

Sai Reddy categorically denied any involvement in the alleged liquor scam, stating that he has no knowledge of such a case and asserting that, in his view, no liquor scam exists at all.

He said he had clearly informed the ED that he had no role in the alleged scam and advised the agency to question those who were actually involved.

He confirmed that his statement had been formally recorded and noted that the ED might summon him again if required.
