Funky Scene Sparks Varanasi Jibe Row, Fans React

Today, Funky, directed by Anudeep, was released. The film features a scene in which Dil Raju appears as himself and delivers a dialogue to Vishwak Sen, who plays an aspiring director.

In the scene, Dil Raju says, “Cook up something. Confuse the audience by bringing mythology into it. Take some part from the Treta Yuga and some part from the Dwapara Yuga. Show a few dates mentioning BC and AD. That’s the trend now.”

The dialogue has been interpreted by many as a direct jibe at the film Varanasi. Even fans of Mahesh Babu have reportedly taken offence, expressing their anger on social media.

This has sparked questions, with many wondering why Dil Raju, a senior producer, would make such a remark. Readmore!

Meanwhile, Funky completed its morning shows and opened to largely negative feedback. Viewers criticised the film for generating very few laughs and for its aimless narration filled with flat one-liners.
