For some time, there have been speculations that Vangaveeti Asha Kiran, daughter of late leader Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga, would soon be joining the YSR Congress party, championing the cause of Kapu community.
While her brother Vangaveeti Radhakrishna is currently in Telugu Desam Party but without any posts and positions, Asha Kiran has become active politically in the last few months. This apparently led to a gap within the Radha–Ranga followers’ network.
She had earlier indicated that she would initially focus on public service while building organisational strength. However, she was preparing the ground for a possible electoral debut in upcoming elections by holding meetings with her father’s supporters across the state.
On Sunday, Asha Kiran responded to widespread speculation on social media that she was set to join the YSRCP. Dismissing the claims as false, she said some individuals were deliberately spreading misinformation about her political affiliation.
She clarified that she is currently focused on uniting and strengthening the Radha–Ranga Mitra Mandali across the state and has not taken any decision about joining any political party.
Asha Kiran emphasised that her father Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga stood for all sections of society and was not confined to any particular caste or community. She said she intends to follow the same path and extend support to all sections of people.
She reiterated that she would continue statewide tours to meet backward classes, students and supporters to strengthen the organisation associated with her father’s legacy. While stating that there is still time for her formal entry into active politics, she asserted that any future decision would be taken in consultation with supporters and well-wishers.
For now, she has firmly stated that she has not decided to join any party and urged supporters not to believe rumours circulating on social media.
