A 21-year-old YouTuber was found dead at her residence in Rayadurgam, Hyderabad, in an apparent case of suicide, police said. The incident is believed to be linked to relationship-related issues.
According to Rayadurgam Inspector Venkanna, the deceased, Komali, was a native of Visakhapatnam and was pursuing a BSc degree in Hyderabad. She had been staying with her relatives at Chitrapuri Colony in Manikonda.
Police said Komali was in a relationship with Nikhil Reddy, a software engineer and YouTuber from Visakhapatnam.
Reports suggest that Nikhil had recently been trying to distance himself from her. About six months ago, Komali had allegedly attempted suicide, but was stopped by her relatives, who later counselled her.
Investigators said the couple had recently had disagreements over marriage. On Monday, when no one else was at home, Komali allegedly hanged herself using a saree.
The matter came to light after her mother filed a complaint with the Rayadurgam police on Tuesday. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
