Some films released this year faced severe trolling and criticism, and Funky, starring Vishwak Sen and directed by Anudeep K V, is one of them.
Produced by Naga Vamsi, the film had a disastrous run in theatres. There was some hope that it might receive a better response on OTT, as certain films tend to work better with home viewing.
However, the reaction following its OTT release has only intensified the trolling. Funky premiered on Netflix this weekend and has been drawing even more criticism on social media.
Interestingly, instead of targeting director Anudeep or lead actor Vishwak Sen, many netizens are directing their criticism at producer Naga Vamsi.
The reason appears to be his recent visibility on social media through interviews and bold statements. In one such interview, he reportedly said that Funky would entertain audiences despite not having much of a story.
That remark is now being widely mocked online. Some comments even suggest that if he continues producing two or three more films like this, he could face a situation similar to producers like M S Raju and Dil Raju.
Both once dominated the Telugu film industry; while M S Raju lost prominence years ago, Dil Raju’s banner value has reportedly declined in recent times.
