Actress Renu Desai has taken a firm stand against online abuse, revealing that six individuals have been arrested following a complaint she filed.
According to her, the police tracked down those who used abusive language and expletives against her on social media. Out of the six, two have reportedly been released.
In a video statement, she shared that during questioning, the accused told police they engaged in abusive trolling to gain popularity and increase their follower count. They reportedly said they had no personal grudge against her or any other celebrity.
Issuing a strong warning, Renu Desai said that such behavior will no longer be tolerated. She stated that anyone indulging in online abuse will be identified and face legal consequences.
At the same time, she clarified that she will not reveal the identities of those arrested, as she does not want to give them unnecessary attention.
She added that while she is currently busy with film shoots, the police will continue to track individuals involved in online harassment.
She also urged people to maintain decency while expressing criticism and avoid using “boothulu” or abusive language on social media.
