Revanth to fulfil one-tola gold promise soon?

During the Telangana assembly elections in 2023, the Congress led by present chief minister A Revanth Reddy had released a manifesto centred around six guarantees aimed at appealing to multiple sections of society.

After coming to power, the government rolled out several of these schemes, including Indiramma houses, free bus travel for women under the Mahalakshmi scheme, LPG cylinders at Rs. 500, free electricity up to 200 units, and farm loan waiver.

However, one of the key pending promises — extending one tola of gold along with Kalyana Lakshmi assistance — has remained unfulfilled so far.

It has been more than two years since Revanth Reddy came to power, but the promise has never been fulfilled, often drawing criticism from the opposition parties. Readmore!

On Monday, state IT and industries minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu has asserted that the Congress government will implement all the promises made before the assembly elections, including the much-debated promise of providing one tola of gold along with Kalyana Lakshmi assistance.

He said the Congress was committed to implementing every promise made to the people “100 per cent” and made it clear that the gold promise too would be honoured in due course.

He added that all assurances, including one-tola gold for poor women at the time of marriage, would be completed before the end of the government’s five-year term and only then would the party go back to the people seeking another mandate.

The minister said there may have been some delay in implementation, but insisted that the government was determined to ensure that every promise was delivered in a practical and sustainable manner.

He said the Congress had not made unrealistic promises and was instead focused on practical, implementable welfare and development commitments.

He alleged that the BRS was attempting to divert public attention by resorting to political gimmicks.

He accused rival parties of trying to obstruct the government’s progress and said such political interference was not in the interest of the state.
