The Telugu Desam Party-led coalition government in Andhra Pradesh appears to be intensifying its legal pursuit against maverick Tollywood comedian-writer Posani Krishna Murali, gradually tightening the noose around him.
This is evident from the way police from multiple districts are actively competing to arrest him in connection with the FIRs filed in their respective jurisdictions.
According to reports, as many as 17 cases have been registered against Posani in various police stations across the state.
Law enforcement authorities handling these cases are now preparing Prisoner Transit (PT) warrants to bring him to their respective districts for further legal proceedings.
At present, police officials from three districts have already submitted PT warrants to the Rajampeta Jail, where Posani is currently lodged.
Specifically, police from Narasaraopet in Palnadu district, Alluri Sitarama Raju district, and Anantapur rural police have handed over their warrants to the jail authorities.
The Narasaraopet police insisted that they had court approval and demanded custody of Posani first, even arranging vehicles for his transfer.
However, with three PT warrants arriving simultaneously, the jail authorities consulted higher officials to determine the appropriate legal procedure.
After a review, it was decided that Posani would first be handed over to the Narasaraopet police in Palnadu district.
As per the latest reports, Posani is expected to be transported to Narasaraopet shortly, following a mandatory medical examination.
Meanwhile, sources indicate that Posani complained of chest pain again on Monday morning, prompting jail authorities to summon government doctors from Rajampeta to examine him inside the prison premises.
