Daaku Maharaaj, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, turned out to be a loss-making venture.
Except for a decent run in North America, the film disappointed distributors in all other territories.
Its performance was further hurt by the blockbuster success of Venkatesh’s Sankranthiki Vasthunam, which completely overshadowed it.
As a result, producer Naga Vamsi, director Bobby, and even Balakrishna himself have moved on, leaving Daaku Maharaaj behind.
But the only person still keeping the film alive — at least in name — is Urvashi Rautela.
Despite playing a minor role and appearing only in the much-talked-about “Dabidi Dabidi” song, she continues to promote the film as if it were another Baahubali or KGF.
Surprisingly, she even received an award for this film — Favorite Artist of the Year.
Imagine an organization giving an award for Daaku Maharaaj, and to Urvashi, whose only contribution was portraying a yoga-trained sub-inspector of police.
