A senior IPS officer, who was suspended by the present Telugu Desam Party-led coalition government in Andhra Pradesh, is believed to be extending all help to the YSR Congress party leaders involved in various cases, including arranging them legal assistance and training them in evading answers during the police interrogation.
According to reports in a section of media, this IPS officer allegedly played a key role during the YSRCP regime in filing fabricated cases against opposition leaders, including then Opposition Leader Chandrababu Naidu and senior TDP leaders.
The reports said this officer, who has been stationed in Hyderabad after his suspension, is allegedly supporting the YSRCP leaders facing various criminal charges, using his clout in the department even now.
It is alleged that this officer is obstructing investigations into corruption and irregularities that occurred during the YSRCP's five-year tenure.
He is allegedly coaching YSRCP leaders and officials facing charges on how to respond to police notices, evade interrogation, and avoid getting tracked while on the run.
Sources said this IPS officer is running a parallel network with a group of suspended or benched IPS officers and other police officials like DSPs and Additional SPs.
“There is a specific information that this suspended officer is also extending financial support to the accused and given them guidance to counter the current government’s actions,” they said.
The officer is also allegedly arranging high-profile lawyers for accused officials and is directing them on how to respond during court inquiries. He is also allegedly indirectly threatening those involved in investigating the YSRCP-era scams.
The police are suspecting that it was this officer who is helping Raj Kasireddy in the liquor scam and advised him to evade SIT summons.
“The police are gathering evidence against this officer,” the reports said.
