Kuberaa: High Budget, Star Power, and Early Profits

Kuberaa is among the most anticipated big-budget films of this summer, and its staggering budget is turning heads.

This is not only director Sekhar Kammula’s most expensive film to date, but also possibly the costliest project in Dhanush’s career.

It's particularly interesting that such a massive investment is being made for a Telugu film featuring a Tamil star in the lead.

So where did the money go? A major chunk — around ₹60 crore — has reportedly been spent on remunerations alone for the cast, director, and key technicians. Readmore!

Dhanush is said to be charging ₹30 crore, while Nagarjuna, who plays a pivotal role, has taken home the highest paycheck of his career — an estimated ₹14 crore. Since Kammula specifically wanted Nagarjuna for the role, the makers agreed to his quote.

With Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead and Devi Sri Prasad handling the music, the film’s budget ballooned further.

On top of that, the film was extensively shot in Bangkok and Mumbai, with a longer-than-usual shooting schedule. When combined with interest and production costs, the total budget has reportedly touched ₹130 crore.

Despite the high cost, Kuberaa is already on its way to being a profitable venture. The film has reportedly recovered around ₹90 crore through its OTT and Hindi rights alone.

Key revenue sources like the Tamil version and Telugu theatrical rights are yet to be realized, making Kuberaa a potentially profitable project.
