Strange as it may sound, several newly formed companies have emerged in Andhra Pradesh and secured multi-crore projects during the past year under the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led coalition government headed by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
One such case involves Chinta Green Energy, a recently incorporated firm that has already landed significant contracts in the state.
Another example is Ursa Clusters, which appeared on the scene suddenly and was allotted 60 acres of prime land in Visakhapatnam — land worth hundreds of crores — at a throwaway price.
A closer look at the background of these companies reveals that they received government contracts and land allotments within months of their incorporation.
This rapid success is being attributed to the lobbying power of their promoters, many of whom are allegedly close to ruling party leaders. There are even allegations that some promoters may be acting as benamis (proxies) for political figures.
Now, another such firm — Meglan Leisure & Entertainment LLP — has drawn attention after bagging a high-profile contract in Andhra Pradesh.
Investigations show that the company was established only in February 2025 and submitted proposals to the state government by May.
On June 19, the State Investment Promotion Board, chaired by Chief Minister Naidu, approved Meglan's proposal to set up a five-star luxury resort on 15.25 acres of land near the Polavaram Irrigation Project.
The most striking revelation is that one of Meglan's directors is reportedly a close associate of a former YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Member of Parliament — an influential figure known for his cross-party connections.
This former MP was also known to frequent the promoter’s farmhouse in Thimmapuram, near the Bheemunipatnam beach road.
TDP insiders allege that this same director is a partner in the controversial Dasapalla land development deal.
At a time when government contracts and land deals are being reevaluated with the change in administration, this latest allocation has stirred political debate.
Currently, Umesh Kunapareddy and Lakshmi Kunapureddy are listed as the directors of Meglan. On Thursday, the government issued a Government Order (GO) granting the company permission to establish the luxury resort at the Polavaram project site.
The land will initially be leased for 66 years, with an option to extend for an additional 33 years. Lease terms include the payment of 1% of the sub-registrar value and 1% of gross revenue as a development premium.
Meglan has announced a â¹255 crore investment and plans to create employment for 350 people. The company is also receiving full SGST exemptions and other incentives under the state’s tourism policy.
A TDP leader has alleged that the coalition government is maintaining ties with firms that thrived during the Jagan regime.
The allocation of prime land to a company reportedly linked to a former YSRCP MP has raised eyebrows and triggered heated political discussion.
