Speculations are rife on social media about the possible return of former YSR Congress party general secretary and ex-Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy to the party sooner or later.
According to these speculations, a senior leader close to Jagan’s family is learnt to have raised the topic of inviting Sai Reddy back into the party, as it would give a lot of morale booster to the cadre.
“Jagan apparently told him that he had not asked Sai Reddy to leave the party and in fact, requested him to stay back. If Sai Reddy wants to return to the party, I have no objection. Let him take the decision,” sources quoting the senior leader said.
In January this year, Sai Reddy announced his resignation from the Rajya Sabha membership and also the party when Jagan was in London.
He openly declared that he was forced to leave the party due to the dominance of Jagan’s close coterie.
Later, during investigations into the liquor scam and Kakinada port issues, Sai Reddy made significant remarks, clarifying that he would not act in a manner that would harm Jagan.
Even during the recent SIT investigation in the liquor scam, Sai Reddy did not blame Jagan directly, but only targeted Raj Kesireddy, former advisor to Jagan.
Now, speculations are rife within the YSRCP that Sai Reddy might rejoin the party, as some senior leaders reportedly suggested to Jagan that bringing Sai Reddy back into the party would be beneficial to the party.
However, sources close to Sai Reddy said he has no such idea, at least for now.
“He knows that he will not get the same recognition and importance in the YSRCP that he had in the past. Even Jagan might not give him much priority and might always look at him with suspicion, because he had virtually surrendered his Rajya Sabha seat to the TDP-led alliance. So, he must be hesitating for the same,” sources said.
Yet, if Jagan speaks to him directly and invites him back into the party, he might accept the same.
“Nothing is predictable; anything might happen in politics,” sources said.
