Suspended YSR Congress Party leader and MLC Duvvada Srinivas — who recently made headlines for his extramarital affair with Divvela Madhuri — has made interesting remarks about actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi, with whom he was associated in the past.
In a recent television interview, Duvvada spoke about the political climate during the 2009 elections, ahead of the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and shared key insights into Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam Party (PRP).
He recalled contesting as a PRP candidate in the 2009 elections and praised Chiranjeevi for his generosity and leadership.
“After I lost the election and went through financial difficulties, Chiranjeevi extended help by sending me money. Senior leaders close to him, like Kala Venkata Rao and Ganta Srinivasa Rao, facilitated that support,” Duvvada revealed.
He also mentioned urging Chiranjeevi not to merge PRP with the Congress, but acknowledged that the decision was made due to the prevailing political circumstances at the time.
“Had Chiranjeevi not merged his party and continued in politics independently, he would have certainly become the chief minister after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh,” Duvvada asserted.
He lauded Chiranjeevi’s respect for party workers, the autonomy he gave them, and his empathetic leadership.
“I still hold admiration for Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, and Chiranjeevi,” he concluded.
