The Telugu film industry has been rocked by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) registering cases against 29 film celebrities for promoting illegal betting apps.
Acting on an FIR filed by Cyberabad police, the ED has initiated an investigation and is preparing to question several celebrities, YouTubers, and social media influencers.
This has angered maverick evangelist and Praja Shanti Party President K A Paul, who lashed out at the BJP for targeting film celebrities in the betting app promotion cases.
He demanded that the Enforcement Director should also file cases against film actor-politicians Balakrishna and Pawan Kalyan and investigate their role.
He questioned whether Pawan Kalyan and his brothers had never promoted betting apps.
Accusing the BJP of shielding its allies, Paul alleged that those with links to the BJP were being spared from investigation.
He questioned whether TDP and Jana Sena leaders, who are aligned with the BJP, would also be let off.
He further demanded a thorough investigation into the role of Balakrishna and Pawan Kalyan or their family members in the promotion of betting apps.
“Why are BJP-affiliated individuals selectively spared? If you are with BJP, there are no ED or CBI raids. You will be rewarded with Padma Bhushan and Bharat Ratna awards. You’ll be fully protected,” he alleged.
