Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films has scored its biggest success yet with Lokah – Chapter One: Chandra, which has stormed past the â¹101 crore global mark in just seven days.
The fantasy-action epic has now set a new record as the highest-grossing female-led film in South Indian cinema, rewriting the rules of regional superhero storytelling.
Directed and written by Dominic Arun, the film stars Kalyani Priyadarshan in the lead as Chandra, supported by Naslen and Sandy.
Inspired by the legendary folklore of Kalliyankattu Neeli, the movie introduces audiences to an ambitious new superhero cinematic universe.
The film’s momentum continues to grow across languages.
While the Telugu and Tamil versions are performing strongly, the Hindi release is scheduled for September 4. In Kerala alone, Lokah is running 1,400+ daily shows, many sold out, reflecting unprecedented audience demand.
The cast also features Chandu Salimkumar, Arun Kurian, Sharath Sabha, Nishanth Sagar and Vijayaraghavan, along with multiple cameo appearances that have delighted fans.
Distribution has been handled by some of India’s biggest players — AGS Cinemas in Tamil Nadu, Lighter Buddha Films in Karnataka, Pen Marudhar in North India, and Sitara Entertainments in Telugu states — giving the film true pan-India reach.
