A foreign traveller’s candid take on women’s safety in India has sparked discussions online.
Sharing her experiences after touring several popular destinations, she rated each city based on how safe she felt as a Western woman visiting alone.
Her ratings reflect the mixed realities women often encounter while travelling across the country.
According to her list, Delhi fared the worst with a shocking -1/10, while Agra scored a modest 3/10. Cities like Jaipur (5/10) and Pushkar (6/10) performed better, showing a gradual sense of comfort and safety.
Moving further, Udaipur (8/10) and Goa (8/10) stood out as relatively safer spots, offering a more relaxed and welcoming environment.
Interestingly, Kerala topped the list with 9/10, while Mumbai scored 6.5/10, reflecting its reputation as one of India’s more cosmopolitan but less safer when compared to Goa and Udaipur.
Though subjective, her assessment has reignited the conversation on ensuring consistent safety standards for women, locals and tourists alike, across all parts of India.
