It is an age-old tradition in Telangana during the Dasara festivities that youngsters go to the temple on the evening of Vijayadasami day, worship “Jammi” (Shami) tree and come back to their parents’ place, wherever they are, to take their blessings.
Sharing of Jammi leaves, treating them as gold and silver, with the parents and siblings and take the blessings of elders has been an invariable part of the Dasara festival. Later, the entire family enjoys the dinner with all the members joining the elders.
Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president K T Rama Rao, along with his wife Shailima and children, went all the way to Erravelli farmhouse to meet his father – BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao – to take his blessings on Dasara day on Thursday.
Needless to say, all the other family members, including cousins and aunts joined the festivities at KCR’s place in Erravelli farmhouse. The only person conspicuous by her absence was KCR’s daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha.
According to sources, KCR apparently rejected outright Kavitha’s message that she wants to come to the farmhouse to offer “Jammi” leaves to her parents and take their blessings. As a result, she confined herself to her house at Banjara Hills in Hyderabad.
Ever since Kavitha raised a banner of revolt against the party, KCR has not been seeing eye to eye with her. She made an attempt three or four days to meet him, but he did not give her any audience.
Last time she went to the farmhouse was in September to take KCR’s blessings to her son, who was leaving for London for higher education. KCR spoke to the grandson, but did not allow Kavitha even to enter his room.
A few days later, she was suspended from the party after which she resigned from the BRS as well as her legislative council membership.
According to latest reports, Kavitha is now getting ready to launch a new political party sooner or later.
On the day of Dasara, Kavitha announced a state committee of her organisation Telangana Jagruthi with senior Scheduled Tribe (ST) leader Lakavat Roop Singh as the Working President of the organisation.
In her statement, Kavitha revealed that over 80 percent of positions in the newly reconstituted state executive have been allocated to individuals from backward and marginalized communities, reinforcing Jagruthi’s commitment to inclusive development and grassroots leadership.
Kavitha announced that she will soon embark on a statewide tour to engage directly with intellectuals, poets, artists, social workers, and experts across districts.
She emphasized that the restructuring effort is not merely symbolic, but a decisive step toward building a socially conscious and culturally vibrant Telangana.
