It appears Jana Sena Party chief and Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan appears to be running his party like a non-governmental organisation (NGO), rather than a full-fledged political outfit.
A political party is supposed to have an organisational structure from grassroot level to the state level and take up political activities that would help the party candidates do something for the people, so that they can elect the party in the elections.
But Pawan Kalyan has not been organising any political programmes; instead, he has been asking the party cadre to take part in social activities.
On Friday, the Jana Sena Party chief announced a new youth engagement initiative titled ‘Senatho Senani – Man Nela Kosam Kalisi Naduddaam’ (With the Sena, Become a Soldier – Let’s Walk Together for Our Land), aimed at encouraging young citizens to actively participate in social transformation.
Speaking on the occasion, Pawan Kalyan said the programme would provide an opportunity for enthusiastic youth — both men and women — to choose areas of their interest and contribute voluntarily to the betterment of society.
“Change does not come by merely wishing for it, it comes when we work for it,” he asserted, urging the youth to register through a QR code or link to take part in the campaign.
The Jana Sena chief said the movement’s goal was to build a new generation of politically aware citizens committed to the nation’s progress.
Pawan Kalyan, who also heads the Panchayati Raj and Rural Development portfolios, linked this new programme to his government’s ongoing rural development mission.
It is time the Jana Sena Party chief rejuvenate the party leaders and cadre by taking up programmes that would help build the image of the party.
