Sankranthi has always been a favorite season for Tollywood’s top stars. Given a chance, everyone wants to release their films during this festive period.
Right now, many films that are set to release after or around the Dasara season are eyeing Sankranthi as their ideal window.
One of the biggest films in discussion is Prabhas’s Raja Saab. With around five to six months of shooting and post-production left, inside talk suggests that it might be pushed to Sankranthi. If that happens, the entire lineup of planned releases will see major reshuffling.
Anil Ravipudi’s film with Megastar, produced by Sahu Garapati, is already being planned for Sankranthi.
Similarly, Naveen Polishetty’s film under Sithara Entertainments is also in the race. Ravi Teja and producer Cherukuri Sudhakar are working on a Sankranthi-targeted release.
Nagarjuna, who has a strong connection with Sankranthi, is planning a village-based film with Akhil. Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2 is another film that could be a top contender if it joins the festival lineup.
However, if Raja Saab enters the Sankranthi race, many of these planned releases may be postponed or reshuffled.
A Prabhas film always dominates the box office, making it a tough competitor for others. Moreover it is wise to target the content like 'Raja Saab' for Sankranthi targeting family audience.
