Don't Want Cabinet Berth, Says Kodandaram

Telangana Jana Samithi president Prof. M Kodandaram, who spearheaded the separate statehood movement as chairman of the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC), has clarified that he neither sought nor was promised a ministerial berth following his recent appointment as an MLC.

Kodandaram, who supported the Congress party in the previous elections, was recently nominated as an MLC after prolonged deliberations.

The recommendation by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was eventually approved by Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla.

Along with Kodandaram, senior leader Mohammed Azharuddin also assumed office as an MLC. Readmore!

Kodandaram told reporters that the TJS extended support to the Congress as part of a broader political strategy, not for power-sharing.

He reiterated that his party does not seek positions such as minister, MLA, or MLC for personal gain.

He said the TJS has been actively involved in public struggles since its inception and alleged that the party faced repression under the previous BRS government led by K Chandrashekar Rao.

He accused the former regime of filing cases and creating obstacles for TJS activities and reaffirmed that the party continues to function with a commitment to public causes.

Kodandaram also criticised the BRS leadership, alleging that it operates as a family-centric party. Referring to remarks by KCR’s daughter K Kavitha, he claimed internal issues within the Kalvakuntla family are becoming public.

He announced that key decisions would be taken at the TJS plenary scheduled for May 12.
