It appears that former YSR Congress Party general secretary and Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy, who resigned from both the party and the Parliament in January this year, is gradually giving clear indications that he may soon join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Although Sai Reddy initially claimed he would stay away from politics and focus on managing his horticulture farms, his recent social media activity and political statements suggest otherwise. He has dropped several hints that a shift to the BJP might be on the cards.
In the past few days, Sai Reddy has been regularly posting comments and suggestions on X (formerly Twitter), often praising the Centre’s initiatives and offering unsolicited advice to BJP leaders — behavior that aligns with someone seeking to align themselves with the party.
On Tuesday, he posted a message urging the Union government to pass on the benefits of declining global crude oil prices to Indian consumers.
He tagged Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri in the tweet: “As crude oil prices drop below $60 per barrel and Russian Urals crude nears $50 per barrel, it’s important to pass on these benefits to our consumers who expect a reduction of at least â¹5 per litre in petrol prices. Lower petrol prices will stimulate our economy and drive economic growth. @HardeepSPuriji.”
Just a few days earlier, he also advised the central government to mandate EV (electric vehicle) charging stations in apartment complexes to support the transition to clean energy: “As we transition away from diesel cars, we need to future-proof our infrastructure. Making it mandatory for all new housing societies to include EV charging stations in designated parking spaces for each apartment would be a game-changer. This will boost adoption of electric vehicles and pave the way for plug-in hybrids, promoting a cleaner, greener future. @mlkhattarJi.”
Further fueling speculation about his political shift, Sai Reddy greeted people on the occasion of Shri Ram Navami with the slogan “Jai Shri Ram,” a slogan closely associated with the BJP.
“On this sacred day, let us draw inspiration from the life of Maryada Purushottam Prabhu Shri Ram—an eternal symbol of dharma, courage, compassion, and righteous leadership. May His blessings guide us in serving our nation with integrity and devotion. Jai Shri Ram.”
He also heaped praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inaugurating the new Pamban Bridge in Tamil Nadu: “The new #PambanBridge to be inaugurated by Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji is an engineering marvel and a bridge to the future. Our 1st vertical lift sea bridge rises up to a height of 17 metres to facilitate movement of ships. Even the opposition would agree that PM Modi ji is constructing world-class infrastructure for our people.”
All signs point toward a strategic repositioning by Sai Reddy, with his political re-entry likely through the BJP.
